Weekly Must-Have

Every week I will be posting three of the "must have" fashion, beauty and lifestyle items available. From skincare to shoes, there are so many glamorous and amazing new items being sent to me to try out and recommend to you.....

Fashion
Dolce & Gabbana's star print made a strong statement on the A/W 11 catwalks and will be a key print in the coming months. This uber-sophisticated version can be yours for a fraction of the price, £10 at Primark and is available now.

Beauty
Plucking brows for more than 30 years, Tweezerman is the go-to tweezer brand on the high-street for girls in the know – it's the beauty equivalent of a little black dress and the best way to get a professional brow shape in your own home. As well as creating a full range of beauty tools, they're constantly updating their classic slanted tweezers with a variety of fashion-forward colours and styles. If you haven't already got a pair, then you know what to do!

Lifestyle
Us girls like to accessorise our technology as much as ourselves, so we’ll be snapping up these leopard-print accessories from Marks & Spencer quick sharp. It’s perfect for keeping your gadgets safe as well as super-chic – the phone case comes with a nifty pull-cord that makes it slip out easily. Practical and stylish, good work Marks & Spencer!

Gisele Bündchen

Brazilian super-model Gisele Bündchen is back and better than ever...since her return to work after the birth of her first son she is hot property and her latest campaign see's her photographed for H&M spring 2011. Photographed by Daniel Jackson I adore the seventies inspired styling and the relaxed boho-esque feel. I can't wait to get my hands on some of these items

Lacy Sunday
One of my favourite editorial pieces I have seen in a long while is in this months US edition of Marie-Claire. Featuring some stunning white lace on the supermodel Jeisa Chimanazzo, the soft, whimsicle styling gives it a romantic seventies vibe and is a fresh look for spring.

Shop this shoot and re-create your own look with some lace inspired pieces and accessories with gold accents.

Man Style

I love the androgynous way of dressing and every season designers will add the 'man style' to their collection. I found this editorial piece styled entirely in borrowed-from-the-boys attire.

Tap into the trend with masculine ties, hats and jackets and combine your look with a splash of femininity

Coleen for Littlewoods

Back in November last year one of Liverpool's biggest fashionistas Coleen Rooney launched her very first collection for Littlewoods, seeing a beautiful mix of soft neutral maxi's and short feminine colourful dresses, they sold out within days. Now Coleen has added even more to her spring collection and I have a sneak peek of some of the delights we should be looking forward to.

Looking gorgeous in this seasons hottest colour, this structured tangerine dress is a hot pick from these additions and a different look from her original collection

From bold colour to delicate pastels, blush is the colour of choice in this next image. The dress has a soft chiffon flare skirt and is finished with a sequin embellished trim around the neck and waist.

Coleens new range is not available until the 16th March but for now the rest of the collection is available for e-preview from 18th Feb at littlewoods.com so make your wish list now, from what I have seen it looks like mine will be a long one!

Spring Outerwear

It’s that time of year to say goodbye to last season’s beloved fur coats and hello to trenches and light little things! Spring jackets are now in our minds and I have taken up the task of finding this years most stylish macs, trenches, capes and more that will have you wishing for rain everyday of the week!

Look out for classics with quirky twists, sophisticated parkas and cute coats in this season hottest trends.

Bold is definately Better

Bring on the brights with Spring/Summers hottest colour palette yet. Neons, bold colour-blocks and clashing colour combinations are a huge trend.

Wear head-to-toe colour in simple classic shapes and team with matching accessories and shoes or break every fashion rule and deliberately clash with contrasting colours.

To keep it more simple add just one bold piece to a neutral toned outfit. A scarf or a bright colour bag will keep you on trend and the confidence to be a little braver next time?

Whatever you taste there is no mistaking that colour is all over the highstreet from tall
wedges to 70's style maxi-dresses.

This is going to be one colouful summer!

SAG Awards

So as the countdown to the Oscars continue, we turn our attention to last nights SAG Awards. Big winners were Natalie Portman, Claire Danes, Christian Bale and our very own Colin Firth for the King’s Speech, but as always I am more interested in the fashion on the red carpet beforehand.

There was no doubting the glamour as these leading ladies pulled out all the stops to get on the "best dressed " list. We saw them dressed in bright colours of hot pink, purple and royal blue to lighter pastel shades and florals.

Sofia Vergara in Carolina Herrera, Julianna Margulies in YSL, Hayley Steinfeld in Prada, Kim Kardashian in Marchesa and Sarah Hyland in Max Mara.

Heather Morris in Romona Keveza, Hilary Swank in Versace, Jayma Mays in Jenny Packham and Rosario Dawson in J. Mendel

For those ladies who didn't chose a new chic alternative to white, ivory and cream.

Eva Longoria in Georges Hobeika, Amy Adams in Hervé Leroux, Winona Rider in Alberta Ferretti and Natalie Portman in Azzaro.

The big accessory trend were belted gowns in a mix of cool skinny leather to black satin waisted ribbons. Mila Kunis belted her Alexander McQueen with matching leather, Claire Danes' floral Louis Vuitton gown was finished with a wider buckle style, Dianna Agron in Vintage Chanel and Jennifer Lawrence in Oscar De La Renta both chose satin bows, but my favourite by far was Lea Michele in a stunning 70’s inspired Oscar de la Renta, belted with gold skinny leather.

Again the cream of Hollywood didn't disappoint and leaves me wondering, just how are they going to top this at the Academy Awards?

Baby Boom
The hottest trend of 2011 is definately babies, we seem to hear of a new celebrity pregnancy every week. I come across pregnancy and the need for maternity wear quite often and I know what a struggle it can be finding something comfortable for my clients, that fits and is also on trend. There is no reason not to feel glamourous just because you are pregnant.

More and more stores are now offering a maternity line and celebrities such as Holly Willoughby and Denise Van Outen have launched their own stylish ranges, so finding something suitable is a lot easier than it used to be.

Here are a few of my top picks to get you started on your pregnancy journey!

Bottoms

I know jeans can be difficult but there are a lot of options out there. Designer brands such as 7 for all Mankind and J-Brand have some very stylish cuts and claim to be comfortable and easy to wear. My choice are Blue Baxter Skinny Jeans £40 by Topshop. My other recommendations other than jeans are, Maxi Skirt £10 Matalan and black leggings £19.99 River Island.

Tops & Dresses

Ponchos and free flowing shirts will grow with your bump,Poncho £14.99 H&M, Tab Roll Sleeve Shirt £38 Topshop, as will jersey dresses which are great for dressing for a night out,
Wrap Dress £38 Dorothy Perkins.

Shoes

Footwear is normally the most tricky so I suggest alternating between wedges and flats to keep your feet comfortable and swollen free. Flats £90 and Wedges £120 both Pied-a-Terre.

Accessories

Finish of your stylish maternity looks by treating yourself to this super soft coral tote bag, £766 Mulberry and large oversized sunglasses £15 Next.

Ask Closet Queen

The highlight of my work as a stylist is getting to discover new and amazing finds before anyone else and of course, being able to share my knowledge with you.

I get a lot of style advice questions sent to Closet Queen, some of them more than others, so over the next few weeks I am going to be featuring the answers of the most requested in this ever evolving world of fashion, beauty and lifestyle.

Question: I am going for a weekend city break to Barcelona, what should I pack?

Anywhere in Europe at this time of year is going to be chilly, so wrapping up in style is a must. My advice would be to take lots of warm clothes including accessories and layering is key.

1 - Start with a pair of smart leggings and skinny indigo jeans. Both of these can be dressed up from day into evening.

2 - Long sleeve T’s and Chunky Knits will enable you to layer should the weather change.

3 - A feminine top or blouse for a romantic evening meal
4 - My vote for a coat will always be a long trench

5 - Accessories are a must and my picks are a stylish scarf, leather gloves and cross body bag to safely secure your belongings.
6 - My choice of footwear is a riding style boot as all that walking will warrant something comfortable and a chic court for nightime glamour.

All these items are items are day-to-night appropriate so you can walk around the beautiful city in style and also leave you with enough space in your suitcase for all that new shopping!
